With our knowledge and experience of writing and executing succesful performance training plans, we'll ensure that our programs hit the correct distribution of training zones and energy systems to see your performance skyrocket!
Our unique science-based training methods target sport specific critical Mobility, Stability, Strength & Power qualities to ensure you stay injury free and pedalling hard. Let’s face it, If you're injured you can't train, if you can’t train you can’t improve your performance.
Strength and Conditioning (also known as S&C) is very important in cycling and more so in a discipline like cyclocross with so many spikes in power, the awkward dismounts, and the brutal low cadence efforts through thick mud. To be a successful rider you need both fitness and strength, here at NP Cycle Solutions we will deliver sessions that are going to fit your specific needs as a cyclist and cyclocross athlete.
We’ve chosen to offer only one plan because we think if you are wanting a coach to guide your training and improve your performance you're going to want the best. With only one plan we can be confident that you're receiving a programme that will maximise your gains at a competitive price.
Hi Guys, I am the Performance Director at NP Cycle Solutions. I have undergraduate degrees in Sport Science & Physiotherapy as well as a Masters in Sport & Exercise Medicine. I am also a published author in the field of Athletic Performance & Injury Risk.
Cycling is very much a passion of mine, although I have to admit I am very average and in no way in the same league as James. However, I love all aspects of cycling: training, group rides, competing in local events and taking on cycling adventures across the Globe.
Here at NP Cycle Solutions, both James and I are dedicated to helping each and every single client we work with achieve their goals. We promise to go above and beyond to help you on your journey.
I'm a coach who likes to leave no stone unturned with the goal to not only maximise your power profile and fitness but to help you everywhere with injury prevention, nutrition, race tactics, technical skills, bike setup.
Alongside Johnny I am dedicated to helping clients of all abilities achieve their cycling goals. Whether you're recovering from an injury or aiming to improve your performance in mountain biking, cyclocross, road racing, or time trialling, we can design an individualised training program tailored to your unique physiology, goals, and lifestyle.
Having raced myself from local races around a park to elite World Championships I have gathered lots of experience and knowledge through training and racing that I want to share to help you get faster.
Please reach us at contact@nottinghamphysio.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We have a great understanding of sports physiology and great experience of how athletes cope with different training methods, using this we can match the right plan to your individual needs.
If you're cycling as a hobby or just for some exercise and fun then a coach probably isn’t for you, but if you're looking to get faster and improve your performance we can give you a training plan to see you achieve your goals. If you can't decide, book a free consultation and we can help you choose if coaching is going to be right for you.
Elite or novice, as long as you want to get faster there's no minimum experience or fitness level needed, your coach will tailor sessions to fit your ability and fitness level.
We ask that athletes have a minimum of 5 hours of training time per week, .
Not all coaches are equal. We want to give you a coaching experience where you are supported and feel confident in our programs helping you achieve success.
We believe that in order to maximise your performance and keep you injury free S&C training alongside your training on the bike is vital, and we can deliver that succesful program for you.
No, you don't need a power metre, our sessions can be completed with heart rate and a perceived exertion scale. Although to get the most out of your training plan, a power meter is recommended
You’ll need a smart device to track your workouts, such as a cycling computer or smart watch (e.g Garmin, wahoo etc…). Along with a Heart rate monitor, and to get the most out of our coaching access to a power meter
We ask that athletes have a minimum of 5 hours of training time per week, if you're not sure book a free consultation and we can discuss in greater detail about what's involved and if we think you have enough time to have a successful partnership with us.
No, if you're looking at just getting fitter or preparing for an epic day out on the bike, we can still create a plan that's going to help you achieve that
No, although our page is currently cyclocross focused we have the experience and the knowledge to coach all disciplines of cycling
Having a coach will make you accountable, having someone there to motivate you through your session. A coach can also remove the stress and guessing out of planning your sessions yourself, we know what's best to achieve your goals and we can use our knowledge and experience to do that.

My unwavering passion has always been to help cyclists improve their Athletic Performance and reduce their risk of future injury. Over the past two decades, I've dedicated myself to continuous learning, ensuring that our practice remains evidence-based & highly effective.
A fundamental principle for me is to never recommend anything I wouldn't personally undergo myself. Consequently, the guidance I provide on performance training, rehabilitation, recovery, & pain science is something I wholeheartedly embrace in my own life.
I've had the privilege of working with numerous cyclists in terms of improving Athletic Performance or helping them get over a stubborn injury with extraordinary results.
We would love the opportunity to assist you on your journey
Warm regards,
Johnny Wilson
